Home Alone Sanity Guide

Understand Home Alone sanity as decision feedback, recognize reported warning effects, reduce avoidable losses, and evaluate sanity items without fake formulas.

Sanity is the pressure system that tells you earlier visitor decisions went wrong. Current Home Alone (Anomaly) guides agree that admitting an Anomaly or rejecting a genuine visitor can reduce sanity, and that a depleted meter ends the run. They also describe worsening visual, audio, and house effects. Roblox does not publish an official starting value, deduction table, failure formula, or recovery rule, so the safest strategy is prevention rather than arithmetic.

Confidence: the role of sanity and its loss from wrong decisions is Community corroborated across current guides checked 2026-08-07. Exact values remain update-sensitive even when two sources repeat the same number.

Read sanity as feedback, not a detector

A falling meter means a previous event likely cost you, but it does not identify the visitor currently at the door. Do not use low sanity as proof that the next caller is an Anomaly. Run that caller’s evidence check normally: story, room state, ordinary camera, night vision, or audio.

After every decision, look for a meter change and other feedback before resuming chores. Recording “admitted visitor, sanity fell” is more useful than guessing a universal deduction. If no visible change appears, do not assume the choice was correct until the interaction finishes and the current UI settles.

Recognize currently reported warning effects

Gamezebo reports darkening vision, auditory hallucinations, and a degraded house with damaged or stained surroundings as sanity worsens. These effects can make later checks harder. Darkness hides room details, false or altered audio complicates voice cases, and a changed interior can be confused with a visitor’s house-state clue.

When pressure rises, slow the route. Finish one evidence channel at a time, ask teammates to report raw observations, and avoid starting a long chore before an unresolved sound. A warning effect is a reason to improve confirmation, not to make faster guesses.

Prevent the most avoidable losses

The highest-value defense is a repeatable visitor routine:

  1. Listen to the complete request.
  2. Identify the one primary evidence channel.
  3. Establish a baseline before toggling camera modes.
  4. Let voice or camera audio finish without covering it with inputs.
  5. Inspect the exact room object named by a claim.
  6. Treat missing evidence as incomplete, not safe.
  7. Make the door or porch-light decision only after the check.
  8. Read the immediate sanity and progress feedback.

Most avoidable errors come from mixing chores with evidence, applying one visitor’s tell to another, or treating a technical failure as a clue. The Visitors guide and Cameras guide keep those routes separate.

Recover control when sanity is low

Stop taking the longest room route. Return to the front-room center, confirm that game audio is usable, and make sure you can operate the laptop and door. Finish short chores only when the event state is quiet. If visual effects obscure a room claim, ask a teammate for a second observation or use another documented channel where the current visitor supports one.

Do not raise audio to an unsafe level to overcome a horror effect. Use Roblox volume, captions, accessibility settings, or headphones at a comfortable volume. If effects make a critical clue impossible to interpret, preserve the uncertainty instead of announcing a verdict you did not observe.

Evaluate reported sanity items

One current walkthrough lists Bone, Rubber Duck, Wooden Doll, and Horse Statue as lobby items with reported sanity values. Their names and numbers are not official, and the source does not settle whether each item is consumable, one-run, persistent, stackable, or capped. Those ownership fields determine value more than the number alone.

Read the live Store description before spending Coins. An item can add margin, but it cannot tell you whether the oven is smoking, the faucet is leaking, a voice changed, or a night-vision model transformed. Use Sanity Items for the dated catalog and a purchase comparison that keeps unknown fields visible.

Separate sanity from allowance and Coins

Sanity measures survival pressure. Allowance is reported as a within-run objective advanced by chores and correct visitor interactions. Coins are reported as a lobby purchase currency. Do not assume a sanity item changes the allowance quota, or that reaching the allowance target restores sanity, unless the current UI explicitly says so.

Track the three displays independently: meter state, board progress, and lobby balance. This makes a test reproducible and prevents a delayed reward from being mistaken for recovery.

Test a sanity claim responsibly

Record the exact Place ID, date, server state, meter before the event, visitor and evidence, choice, immediate meter after the event, and any item equipped. Repeat under the same conditions when practical. Do not intentionally ruin another player’s run to force a loss, and do not call a single numeric change a permanent formula.

A claim becomes stronger when independent current observations agree. It remains community evidence unless a creator-owned source documents the rule.

Sanity FAQ

Does sanity start at 100?

Current guides report 100, but Roblox does not publish the value. Read the meter in your current server and date any numeric claim.

What happens at zero?

Current guides report that the run ends. The exact transition, multiplayer behavior, and any protection effects still need live confirmation.

Can an item replace visitor checks?

No. Reported recovery or capacity only adds margin; evidence still decides whom to admit or reject.

Is the Goblin Stalker a sanity drain?

One current visitor guide says the house jumpscare does not drain sanity. Treat that as a dated community report and confirm it before relying on the claim.
