Home Alone Visitor House Checks

Follow the shortest room-state route for Cat Lady, Firefighter, Plumber, and City Maintenance claims, with aliases and incomplete-evidence handling.

House checks are visitor claims you can test against a named object: a cat in the parents’ bedroom, smoke at the oven, a bathroom faucet, or kitchen water. They are often faster and clearer than searching every camera, provided you listen to the exact request and inspect the correct room. Current sources associate these checks with Cat Lady/Cat Woman, Firefighter/Fireman, Plumber, and City Maintenance/Water Guy.

Status: the four routes are Community corroborated across current detailed guides, checked 2026-08-06. Names and exact ordinary/anomaly states are not official and need current-build retesting.

Cat Lady or Cat Woman

The reported request concerns a missing cat and includes a description. Current guides direct players to the parents’ bedroom and a cat near the bed. The useful operation is not “black always safe” as a universal rule; it is to remember the visitor’s exact words, inspect the visible cat, and compare the two in the current session.

Walk to the parents’ room, approach the bed area, and make sure the model has loaded. Observe the distinguishing feature named in the request. If no cat appears, you may be in the wrong room, the scene may be delayed, or the current build may differ. Missing evidence is incomplete, not automatically safe.

Firefighter or Fireman

The Firefighter claims a problem involving the oven. Go directly to the kitchen and inspect the oven rather than scanning unrelated smoke effects. Current sources report visible smoke or fire as support for the ordinary claim and no matching problem as a warning.

Wait long enough for effects to load, especially on a busy server or lower-performance device. Do not confuse cooking-task effects with the visitor event without checking the active prompt. If you were making lunch, separate the chore’s stove or pan state from the claimed oven condition.

Plumber

The Plumber’s request points to the bathroom faucet. Use the bathroom route, inspect the exact fixture, and check whether its state matches the claim. Current sources contrast a visible leak with a dry faucet.

Avoid checking the kitchen sink and assuming all water fixtures share a state. The bathroom faucet is the documented subject. If the live dialogue names a different fixture, follow the current dialogue and record the change instead of forcing the old route.

City Maintenance or Water Guy

This caller’s story points to the kitchen water. Current sources describe abnormal brown running water as support for the ordinary maintenance warning and no water as the reported Anomaly mismatch. Because source wording differs, listen to the actual claim and inspect the kitchen sink rather than memorizing only a color.

Run the interaction normally if the game requires it, then observe flow and appearance. Do not use the Plumber’s bathroom logic here. Similar water themes are precisely why matching visitor to room matters.

Shortest room-state route

  1. Listen to the full request and repeat the named object to yourself.
  2. Pause the current chore at a known substep.
  3. For Firefighter or City Maintenance, go to the kitchen; for Plumber, go to the bathroom; for Cat Lady, go to the parents’ bedroom.
  4. Inspect only the relevant object first.
  5. Compare the live state with the visitor’s exact words and current reported case.
  6. If the object has not loaded or the result is neither state, wait briefly and repeat once.
  7. Return to the front door and make the decision.
  8. After the encounter, resume the exact chore substep and note outcome feedback.

Learning the route before a visitor arrives saves more time than memorizing every color or effect. The kitchen, bathroom, and parents’ bedroom are also chore destinations, so normal task play can reinforce the path.

Avoid task and visitor overlap

Kitchen chores use the island, sink, coffee maker, stove, refrigerator, and stains. A Firefighter or City Maintenance event can therefore occur while the room already contains task effects or held objects. Stop the chore, reread the visitor’s claim, and focus on the exact oven or sink state that the case names.

The parents’ room can contain clothing for a cleaning task and the cat for a visitor check. Completing one does not prove the other. In the bathroom, plants and a faucet can coexist. Keep object purpose separate.

What to do with incomplete evidence

If the object is absent, the room is dark, another player blocks it, or the effect fails to load, do not improvise. Step away and re-approach, check the live request again, and wait once for the scene. Ask a teammate for a raw observation if available. If the state remains unclear, choose caution and record the case as unresolved.

An update may replace a room, object, alias, or visual state. The official August 4 timestamp is a reason to retest, not proof that one of these cases changed.

Common mistakes

  • Checking the kitchen sink for the Plumber instead of the bathroom faucet.
  • Checking the stove or pan from a lunch chore instead of the Firefighter’s oven evidence.
  • Forgetting the cat description before reaching the parents’ room.
  • Assuming any brown object is water without running or inspecting the sink.
  • Treating an unloaded object as a definite warning state.
  • Mixing Cat Lady and Cat Woman aliases into two separate visitors.
  • Returning to the door before the scene effect loads.

House checks FAQ

Are the aliases official?

Not necessarily. They reconcile names used by current guides. Record the live display name when possible.

Can cameras replace these checks?

Not reliably. These requests point to a room object. Use the object unless the current build explicitly shows the same evidence through a camera.

What if a chore changed the room?

Pause it and separate the task object from the visitor’s named evidence. Observe the exact fixture, appliance, or cat.

Are the ordinary states guaranteed after Update 2?

No. They are dated community reports and require current testing after material updates.
